Flexural Strength and Hardness of Filler-Reinforced PMMA Targeted for Denture Base Application

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this work was to evaluate the flexural strength and surface hardness heat-cured Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) modified by addition ZrO2 nanoparticles, TiO2 E-glass fibre at different wt.% concentrations. Specimens were fabricated separated into four groups (n = 10) measure both hardness. Group C control group. specimens in remaining three differed according ratio filler weight PMMA resin (1.5%, 3%, 5%, 7%). A three-point bending test performed determine strength, while measured using Vickers Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) employed observe fractured specimens. significantly improved filled with 3 5 7 comparison C. All displayed a higher than C, exception 1.5% groups. optimal concentrations enhance between 3–5% ZrO2, TiO2, 3–7% fibre. Furthermore, for all composites, concentration above would improve

Shear Bond Strength of Acrylic Denture Teeth to PMMA and Polyamide Denture Base Materials

Introduction: Detachment of denture teeth from denture base is one of the most common reasons for costly denture repairs .This study aimed at evaluating the bond strength of an acrylic denture tooth to polyamide injection-molded thermoplastic denture base material compared with three conventional polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture base resins. Materials and Method: A total of 40 acrylic dent...

Flexural properties and impact strength of denture base resins reinforced with micronized glass flakes

OBJECTIVES To investigate the effect of the addition of glass flakes on physical properties of conventional heat cure denture base resins and to compare it with a high impact strength denture base resin. MATERIALS AND METHODS Test specimens were divided into Group 1 - poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) (Trevalon), Group 2 - Trevalon HI, Group 3 -5% glass flake +95% PMMA (Trevalon), Group 4 -10...

PMMA denture base material enhancement: a review of fiber, filler, and nanofiller addition

This paper reviews acrylic denture base resin enhancement during the past few decades. Specific attention is given to the effect of fiber, filler, and nanofiller addition on poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) properties. The review is based on scientific reviews, papers, and abstracts, as well as studies concerning the effect of additives, fibers, fillers, and reinforcement materials on PMMA, pub...

Effect of Water Storage on the Flexural Strength of Heat-cured Denture Base Resin Reinforced with Stick (s) Glass Fibers

BACKGROUND Flexural strength (FS) of denture base resins (DBRs) had been improved by reinforcing it with different glass fibers. However, a limited data are available on the effect of glass fiber reinforcement with conventional heat-cured resin after prolonged water storage. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This study aimed to evaluate the reinforcing effect of novel S-glass and nylon fibers on the FS of ...
